During SEX-ED + May 29th event about pathways to sexual health care, a fundraiser will be held for the Yellowhammer Fund.
Why support an organization in the USA South while living in Montréal? This for me is a way to give back to the communities that hosted the Anarcha, Lucy, Betsey second day of reckoning. 👐 Conferences are a weird thing as you fly into a place you don’t know, spend a few days sharing realities and struggles and analysis with people and then you fly away back to your life. How do you give back? How do you show appreciation and active solidarity? I don’t have the answer, but I do have handmade shiny clitoris bandanas that are going to be sold at the conference, and this money will be sent South to support reproductive justice actions led by this great team that deserve all the love you can give.

” Hey you all my name is Jenice, I use she/her pronouns and I am the Yellowhammer Fund executive director. Yellowhammer Fund is a reproductive justice organization, based in Alabama.
Pre the Dobbs decision, Yellowhammer Fund offered abortion funding, as well as any practical support that one might need to get to the care. Post the Dobbs decision, we have doubled down on some of our other programming such as our emergency contraceptives (EC) program, in wich we deliver EC to your doorstep really discretely. We also lean into our family justice programming that offer support to folks who are birthing whether it’s by choice or force. This year we are looking to assist people that are caught in the gaps of services offered in the South. That may look like rolling out a legal fund for people to have representation for those who try to get across state lines and get caught and it also might look like teaching people how to self manage their abortions and what best practices are to follow up. Thank you!”
