You know when a colleague actually describes your work better than you? Well it’s one of those times. Taylor, while requesting a quote for anatomical models on the website wrote this:
“I’m currently a student earning their master’s in Women, Gender, and Sexuality studies and their AASECT sex educator certification. I am hoping to work in the nonprofit sphere after graduation to provide marginalized communities with accessible, comprehensive sex education.
I have been on the hunt for a product like yours, and even began the steps to create my own through my university’s MakerLab this past semester before stumbling upon your products.
Genital representation is one of the most important aspects of inclusive sex education to me, and I think exposure to these products is incredibly needed. I do not want to use outdated, standardized models that do not accurately represent anyone’s genitals in an educational setting, as that benefits no one.
I plan to use these for barrier method demonstrations, to answer anatomical questions, and to provide students with models that they can hold and view in a safe space rather than looking for answers online where they may stumble upon dangerous misinformation.
More than anything, I want to use these models to show students the diversity of genital shapes, sizes, and presentations, because I think my own personal relationship with my body would be incredibly different now if I had been given that gift at a younger age.”
WORDS THAT SAYS IT ALL . And can be an inspiration when you have to argument about the need for better anatomical models with your hierarchy.
