I have been doing quite a lot of academic and practical work around reproductive justice and anti-oppressive approaches. And I LOVED it. Being buried under piles of papers written by clever, thoughtful people is its own kind of kink.
But SEX-ED + has been sucking my soul and brain for the last 8 years, burying me under excel files with numbers in it instead. It leaves little time to do unpaid research.
Except this one. Couldn’t resist taking some time to think about that. To be a part of it. A little part. Not as much as I would have liked. But maybe one day I’ll find the space and money to sit down with it and complete my thoughts about it.
We all approach concepts from a different perspective depending on our training. I come from Political science. I have studied social movements. And done participatory action research with all types of radical badass. While being an activist and doing sexual health and rights advocacy. This inform my perspective, like every other co-authors. And there is something challenging and fascinating to try to align our different trainings and perspectives and put it together on paper. It’s imperfect. But it is something we should build upon and keep thinking about because frameworks are important to develop thoughts and actions.
