There are more and more doctors, OB/GYN, urologist, nurses, midwife etc. who are getting on social media to explain anatomy, science, sexual health, menopause and more.
One video by Dr Rachel Rubin has gone viral: the one in which she explains that labia minora change appearance during the life span, and can shrink during menopause. It has become material for many comical as much as scientific videos and has educated thousands about genital anatomy and genital changes. Front and center in this video is SEX-ED + see through vulva with insertable clitoris.
Objects are great to grab attention and mediate knowledge. When people are still confused between vulva and vagina, explaining labia minora is quite a challenge. But throw a realistic vulva in it, one that perfectly mimic reality and hop! it’s done, everyone understands and you can use this full minute of social media to pass your message.
Wether you wanna talk about cisgender, trans or enby anatomy, SEX-ED + has got you covered. Female genital cutting? Yup. Circumcision. We got you. Lichen Sclerosus? Of course! Clitoris re-exposition surgery? Also. Vagina, inside and out? Sure. And we will keep adding models until all types of bodies are represented.
You want to have more impact on social media? Use props. Wether they are drawings, crochet, models or puppets, they support anatomy understanding and help get your message across. This also applies to classrooms, community groups, sexology practices etc. There is so much unknown about genital anatomy, it’s time to gear up and make up for lost time.
